Sidewalk maintenance and repairs taking place across Saskatoon this summer
City crews will be continuing sidewalk preservation and safety repair work across Saskatoon throughout the summer and into early fall.
This work helps improve pedestrian safety, address trip hazards, enhance accessibility and extend the life of existing sidewalk infrastructure across the city.
Saskatoon maintains nearly 2,500 kilometres of sidewalks and curbs. Work locations are selected based on condition assessments, safety considerations, pedestrian use, accessibility needs and coordination with other infrastructure projects.
Sidewalk preservation work involves rehabilitating larger sections of sidewalk using treatments such as concrete grinding, concrete overlays, crack sealing and selective panel replacement. Sidewalk safety repairs address localized issues such as uneven or damaged panels that may create trip hazards.
During construction, residents may notice temporary sidewalk closures, pedestrian detours, crews working in the area and short-term parking restrictions. Access will be maintained wherever possible and disruptions will be minimized.
Residents are encouraged to follow posted signage and detours, slow down near work zones and allow extra travel time when travelling through active construction areas.
Sidewalk safety concerns can be reported to the City’s Customer Care Centre at 306-975-2476. More information is available at saskatoon.ca/sidewalks.
