Renewable Subscription Service Program

Enjoy the perks of renewable power without the hassle — or the hardware.
Thank you for your interest in the RSS program.
A program application form will be available on this page on or before December 1, 2025, when the program launches.
What is the Renewable Subscription Service?
The Renewable Subscription Service (RSS) program is available to Saskatoon Light & Power customers who wish to offset electricity emissions through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) attained from renewable electricity generation sources within Saskatchewan. One REC represents 1 megawatt-hour of renewable energy.
By enrolling in the Renewable Subscription Service, you support the City's renewable energy goals.
How much does the service cost?
The cost for the service is $0.015 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), which is in addition to your regular electricity rate per kWh and you can choose a subscription level of 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of your monthly power use.
The example below shows how program cost varies with subscription level on an average residential customer’s monthly bill. Actual subscription cost will vary month to month depending on power use.

Subscription Level | Subscription Amount (kWh) | Monthly Subscription Amount ($) |
25% | 150 | $2.25 |

What is the cancellation policy?
Changing or canceling your subscription can be done at any time, at no cost or penalties.
Where will I see the RSS charge on my utility bill?
The additional charge for the RSS will appear on your utility bill as a separate line item each month.
