Vehicles for Hire
Residents and travelers often rely on vehicles for hire for transportation services. Taxis and Transportation Network Companies (TNCs, also referred to as rideshares) provide these services and are both licensed and regulated by the City of Saskatoon under Bylaw No. 9651, The Vehicles for Hire Bylaw.

All licensed taxis must:
- be equipped with the proper equipment and taxi vehicle markings;
- display a City-issued taxi licence decal and taxi fare decal.
Taxi fares are calculated by a taximeter. The General Taxi Fares are:
- $4.75 for the first 125 metres;
- $0.25 for each additional 110 metres;
- $0.25 for every 35 seconds of time, calculated cumulatively, but only when the taxi is fully stopped.
When a van taxi is carrying five or more passengers, or more luggage than can be carried by a sedan, the taxi fare is 1.5 times the amount shown on the taximeter.
Some taxis are equipped to provide wheelchair accessible service and can be requested through the taxi broker.
For trips involving the Saskatoon Airport: The passenger, before the trip starts, has the option to choose between the General Taxi Fares or a flat rate based on a Zone Fare Map. A Saskatoon Airport Authority Commercial Curb Fee of $2.00 is automatically added to the General Taxi Fares and is also built into the rates on the Zone Fare Map. The rates on the Zone Fare Map are set through an agreement between the Saskatoon Airport Authority and the taxi brokers. Please visit yxe.ca for more information.
Complaints or concerns regarding a taxi or taxi driver can be directed to the affiliated taxi broker or to the City of Saskatoon by contacting 306-975-3336 or vehicleforhire@saskatoon.ca.

- an estimate of the total fare for the trip.
