At approximately 3:36 p.m. on July 13, 2020, the Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a possible structure fire in the 300 block of Avenue Q South. Three fire engines, one rescue unit, one aerial ladder truck, one fire investigation unit, and one battalion chief were dispatched for response.

Firefighters arrived on scene in about three minutes to find a detached garage fully involved in fire. An immediate attack was initiated using a fire engine's on-board water supply as additional fire crews prepared hose lines and began connecting to a nearby hydrant. The commanding fire officer declared the fire to be under control at around 3:53 p.m.; firefighters conducted overhaul efforts to search for possible extension and extinguish remaining hot spots. There were no occupants inside of the garage at the time of the fire and no injures occurred as a result of this incident.

A fire investigator is beginning work on scene to identify a cause and origin determination.
