The Planning and Development Department has received an application from Dream Asset Management Corporation (the applicant) proposing to rezone land within the Brighton neighbourhood to accommodate the next phase of residential development.
Proposed Rezoning
The subject land is located in the southern part of Brighton. The land is currently undeveloped and zoned FUD – Future Urban Development District and FUD(H) – Future Urban Development District subject to the Holding Symbol.
The applicant is proposing to rezone the land to R1A – Low Density Residential District 1A, R1B – Low Density Residential District 1B, R2 – Low Density Residential District 2, and FUD(H) – Future Urban Development District subject to the Holding Symbol, as shown on the map below. The proposed rezoning would facilitate residential development in the form of one- to four-unit dwellings as well as related community uses. The proposed rezoning is in alignment with the Brighton Neighbourhood Concept Plan. Additionally, a Holding Symbol is being applied to the land adjacent to Brighton Boulevard and 8th Street East due to site size requirements. A future rezoning application will be required before development can proceed on this portion of land.
