What We Are Asking

The City of Saskatoon is engaging the community on various pet-related programs and services, including pet licensing, the animal control bylaw, and what improvements could be made. Please note that when referring to “pets” within this survey we are referring to cats and/or dogs. Through the survey we are asking community members about:

• Pet licensing, including current opinions and barriers
• How you use our public dog parks and what improvements could be made
• Your awareness of animal-related bylaws
• What programs and services matter to you most.

Whether you own a pet or not, you are invited to provide your feedback through our online survey or by contacting the project team using the information below. Your feedback will help to shape future improvements and services for both pet owners and non‑pet owners in Saskatoon.

About the Project

The City of Saskatoon Animal Services is looking for feedback on how community members view pet licensing, dog parks improvements, and responsible pet ownership. This project builds on past research and re-engages residents to better understand current habits, challenges, and priorities related to owning dogs and cats in Saskatoon. The goal is to ensure Animal Services continues to meet the needs of the community as the city grows.

Why We Are Doing This Work

Saskatoon is growing, and expectations for City services are changing; therefore, public feedback helps inform future decisions and ensures Animal Services programs are relevant, understood and effective. What we learn will be considered to update the Animal Services Program Plan, guide future improvements and increase awareness of the benefits of pet licensing and responsible pet ownership in Saskatoon.
