2nd Avenue and 25th Street intersection reopens as Downtown water main project progresses
Construction crews continue to make progress on the 25th Street water main project.
The intersection at 2nd Avenue and 25th Street has reopened to traffic, restoring access through the area as the project moves into the next phase.
Water main lining work has now been completed, and crews are continuing intersection excavations, restoration work and preparations for roadway resurfacing.
Current and upcoming intersection restrictions:
4th Avenue and 25th Street remains closed until approximately October 9.
6th Avenue and 25th Street is expected to close on October 5 for approximately two weeks. One westbound lane on 25th Street will remain open.
1st Avenue and 25th Street is expected to close on October 5 for approximately two weeks.
3rd Avenue and 25th Street is expected to close on October 6 for approximately two weeks.
Access to businesses, residences and properties is being maintained wherever possible.
As intersections reopen, some lane restrictions may remain while crews complete restoration work. Final roadway resurfacing on 25th Street will take place following completion of the remaining construction work.
The final phase of the project will include a water main replacement on 25th Street between 6th Avenue and Spadina Crescent. This work is anticipated to be completed in 2026; however, it may extend into 2027 depending on construction progress and weather conditions.
Saskatoon Transit may be affected by detours. Transit service alerts and real-time bus information are available on third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit on desktop.
