City Compost Depot closing for the season on Saturday, November 8
The City’s Compost Depot is set to close on Saturday, November 8. Residents can continue to drop off excess yard waste until the depot closes for the season.
In addition to dropping off yard waste, residents can still take part in the Dig-Your-Own compost program. Residents can self-load up to 1 cubic yard of compost and mulch at no cost, subject to weather and while supplies last.
The Compost Depot is located at Highway 7 and 11th Street and is open 7 days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:50 p.m. Access to the site is subject to weather and site conditions.
The City Compost Depot does NOT accept elm wood, treated and untreated lumber, building materials, garbage, or any animal waste/litter. Food waste is also NOT accepted for drop-off at the compost depot; selected food waste may be composted at home and all food waste can now be placed in green carts.
Residents can also pick up compost at Sort & Go at the Material Recovery Centre (MRC) until the pilot program ends on Saturday, November 8. The MRC is located at 42 Valley Road and is open 7 days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Reminder: the pilot program is only for compost pick-up. No yard waste will be accepted at the MRC.
