SERVICES FOR RESIDENTS
Animal Services – Pet Licenses
There are various rate and fee changes for Animal Services effective January 1, 2026.

Material Recovery Centre & Landfill
In 2026, landfill tipping fees will increase to $108/tonne and the landfill entrance fee will increase to $20.

Compost Depot
The Compost Depot Commercial Hauler Season Permit fee remains $150 for 2026.
Waste-Related Handling Services
- Curbside Residential Garbage Program (black cart) average fees per cart per month will increase to approximately as follows in 2026: small (120 L) cart - $4.15, medium (240 L) - $7.84 and large (360 L) - $11.76.
- Curbside Residential Organics Program (green cart) average fees per cart per month will remain at $7.78 per month in 2026.
- Curbside Residential Recycling Program (blue cart) average fees per cart per month will remain at $7.47 per month in 2026.
- Multi-Unit Residential Recycling Program average fees per dwelling per month will remain at $4.22 per month in 2026.
- Cart swap fees will increase to $38 to change the size of a black cart.

2026 Saskatoon Light & Power Electrical Rates
There are no electrical rate increases planned at this time. All SL&P fees and rates can be found at saskatoon.ca/electricalrates.
The City has historically set its rates to match those established by SaskPower. This is to ensure there are no inequities between utility customers regardless of whether their property is within the SL&P or SaskPower franchise area.
Water and Wastewater
In 2026, water and wastewater rates will increase by an average rate of 5.18%.
A $75 fee will be introduced for emergency sanitary sewer maintenance service. The exact implementation date has not yet been finalized but is anticipated to launch in late spring 2026.
Property Tax
Current Property Tax: For property tax levied in the current year that remains outstanding beyond the June 30 payment deadline, the penalty remains at 1.75% per month.
Property Tax in Arrears: For Property Tax Arrears, where a property tax balance remains outstanding beyond December 31 of the year the property tax was levied in, the penalty remains at 2.25% per month.
Corporate Revenue Service Requests
- Tax Certificates (EPTSC): $40 per certificate (an increase of $5)
- Tax Searches: $20 per search (an increase of $5)
Parking Services
- Hourly pay parking rate is $2.50 per hour. Posted time limits do apply.
- ParkedIn App will charge an additional $0.15 convenience fee on each transaction in 2026. Visit Public Pay Parking for rate information.

Special Permits
Special permit information is available at saskatoon.ca/trafficpermits.
- Sidewalk Crossing permit application fee: $775.00
- Truck permit application fee:

- $75.00 for daily
