Construction prompts temporary water pressure drop in some east-side neighbourhoods: water remains safe, reliable
Some east-side residents will experience lower water pressure for approximately five weeks while the City completes a crucial infrastructure upgrade to the Acadia Drive primary water main, beginning Monday, October 6. Water service will stay safe and reliable throughout the work. The water pressure is not expected to drop below 40 pounds per square inch, which is still suitable for everyday use like showering, running appliances and washing dishes.
What to expect:
- Construction will take place daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with possible weekend work. Noise, dust and vibration are expected in the area of the Acadia Drive and Taylor Street intersection.
- In Brevoort Park, College Park, Wildwood and Lakeview, water pressure may drop by up to 20 pounds per square inch (around 40 per cent lower than normal).
- In Rosewood, Lakewood Suburban Centre, Briarwood, Greystone Heights, Eastview and College Park East, pressure may drop by about 10 pounds per square inch (roughly 30 per cent lower than usual).
Frequently asked questions:
