Electric vehicle charging stations fees take effect today at Lakewood and Lawson Civic Centres 

Effective today, following a City Council decision in August, the electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at Lakewood and Lawson Civic Centres will begin charging user fees. Council approved a rate of $5.35 per hour. Fees can be paid using the ChargePoint app, RFID card, and directly with credit cards or through digital wallet.

User fees are in effect 24 hours a day, including weekends, evenings, statutory and other holidays. The maximum charging duration is three hours. Onsite signage is in place to provide more information to users.

These EV charging stations were installed in May 2023 as part of a free two-year pilot project and received steady use and positive feedback. City Council decided to implement the new hourly rate at the August 27, 2025, meeting.
