Fall with style: Annual street sweeping in select neighbourhoods begins October 13
Beginning October 13, crews will be heading to Saskatoon’s leafiest neighbourhoods to help keep streets clear of leaves and reducing the potential for spring flooding.
This year includes Nutana, Holiday Park, Varsity View, Mayfair, Buena Vista, Riversdale, City Park, King George, Exhibition and Caswell Hill.
Residents can check when their street is scheduled to be swept at saskatoon.ca/sweep.
“Leaves that accumulate along streets can clog storm drains and catch basins, creating a risk of flooding when the snow melts,” says Cam LeClaire, Roadways Manager. “By sweeping the leafiest streets before winter, we help protect City infrastructure and keep neighbourhoods safer and cleaner for everyone.”
Before the sweep, residents can help crews complete the work efficiently by removing leaves from sidewalks and boulevards next to your property without piling them in the street. Large leaf piles can slow down street sweepers. Residents can use a green cart or take leaves to a City compost depot.
During the sweep, watch for temporary yellow No Parking signs and move vehicles from the street by 7:00 a.m. on your sweep day. Vehicles left in signed areas may be ticketed or towed.
If a vehicle is towed, use the Find My Vehicle! tool or contact the Customer Care Centre at 306-975-2476.
Weather or other factors may affect the sweeping schedule. Follow along on the City’s social media channels and find your sweep day at saskatoon.ca/sweep.
