The City of Saskatoon has introduced a new Homeowner Plumbing Permit to support residents completing plumbing work in their own single‑family homes.
The permit applies to homeowners planning to construct, extend, alter, renovate, remove or repair plumbing systems within a single‑family dwelling unit. All work must meet the National Plumbing Code of Canada and Saskatchewan Plumbing Regulations.
Eligibility for a Homeowner Plumbing Permit
You may apply for a Homeowner Plumbing Permit if:
- You own the single-family dwelling unit. You must be the legal owner.
- You live in the dwelling. The unit is intended to be used exclusively for living quarters and will be occupied by the owner.
- You are doing the work yourself. You cannot pull a homeowner permit for someone else (an individual or company).
- The property is not intended for sale or rent.
Homeowners can apply through the City’s ePermitting platform, which makes it easy to submit applications, book inspections and pay fees online at any time.
