Overnight crack filling on major Saskatoon roadways begins September 27

Crack filling work at multiple locations throughout the city will begin on September 27. Work is expected to take approximately two weeks, with crews working every night, weather permitting.

Crack filling involves applying hot rubberized asphalt material to cracks in the roadway. The material seals cracks caused by asphalt expanding and contracting due to temperature changes. This treatment helps extend the lifespan of the roadway and reduces the chance of cracks developing into potholes.

Work will begin at 7 p.m. each night and will use a mobile rolling closure. Only one lane will be closed at a time. Drivers can expect temporary lane restrictions and reduced speeds, and ramps and loops may be closed for up to 30 minutes at a time.

Motorists are asked to follow posted signs and use caution when travelling through work areas.

Crack filling will take place at the following locations:

• Circle Drive southbound, from Clancy Drive to the Gordie Howe Bridge

• Idylwyld Drive northbound, from 25th Street to 31st Street

• Idylwyld Drive northbound, from 51st Street to Marquis Drive West

• Circle Drive westbound, from Warman Road to the Circle Drive North Bridge

• Warman Road southbound, from Circle Drive to 33rd Street East

• Central Avenue, from 107th Street to College Drive

• McKercher Drive, from College Drive to 105th Street East

• Circle Drive northbound and southbound, from 14th Street to College Drive

• Circle Drive and College Drive interchange

• 108th Street, from Preston Avenue North to Bryans Avenue

• 8th Street East, from Sommerfeld Avenue to Arlington Avenue

• Boychuk Drive southbound, from Heritage Crescent to Highway 16

• Boychuk Drive northbound, from Highway 16 to Rosewood Boulevard

• Boychuk Drive and Highway 16 interchange
