Public invited to share input on the City of Saskatoon's future tax policy: survey now available
Starting Tuesday, October 13, Saskatoon residents, property owners, renters and interested stakeholders are invited to complete an online survey about the City’s future property tax policy. Paper copies are available for pickup in the lobby of City Hall. To request a survey by mail, email engagement@saskatoon.ca.The tax policy survey will be open for public input until Friday, November 6, 2026.
What the tax policy engagement survey is about
This survey is focused on one part of tax policy: how the total municipal property tax requirement, set through the City’s budget process, is distributed or shared between residential and non-residential (commercial) properties.
The survey seeks public input on the principles and trade-offs City Council should consider when it next sets Saskatoon’s property tax policy in 2029. Historically, the City’s tax policy is reviewed by City Council every four years to align with Saskatchewan’s provincially legislated reassessment cycle. The survey also asks participants to identify their preferred ways to receive information about tax policy or assessment, and how the City’s tax policy can be more clearly communicated to residents.
The tax policy survey is not intended to measure support for a specific decision or outcome. There are no right or wrong answers to the opinion questions.
Residents are encouraged to review the tax policy information provided before completing the survey.
Public invitation: Property tax policy information evening and community conversation
The City of Saskatoon also invites residential property owners, renters and interested stakeholders to attend an evening tax policy information presentation and community conversation on:
Wednesday, November 4, 2026
6:00–8:00 p.m.
City Hall, 222-3rd Avenue North
Room confirmation closer to event
This tax policy engagement session will continue to focus on how the total municipal property tax requirement, as set through the City’s budget, is distributed between residential and non-residential property owners.
Attend to learn more about property tax policy, ask questions and share your perspective as the City develops its future property tax policy. While the session is intended to encourage participation from residential property owners and renters, all interested Saskatoon residents and stakeholders are welcome.
To register: email engagement@saskatoon.ca with the subject line Property Tax Policy Project 2026 Community Event.
