TRIBUTE TO YOUTH SCULPTURE TEMPORARILY REMOVED FOR MAINTENANCE
The City of Saskatoon (City) oversees the care and maintenance of a civic permanent public art collection that consists of 38 outdoor sculptures. As part of this responsibility, the City keeps a detailed maintenance and conservation record of each one of the pieces.
The sculpture, Tribute to Youth, located in Kiwanis Park at Spadina Crescent and 23rd Street, has been temporarily removed to allow for restoration work of the stone and tile base, as well as on its lights. The repairs will be completed by the end of September, at which time the sculpture will be re-installed.
Tribute to Youth, featuring five children forming a sphere, was sculpted by the renowned Saskatchewan artist, the late Bill Epp. It was unveiled in 1989 to commemorate the 1989 Jeux Canada Games.
