Update: Downtown water main project
The Downtown water main project on 25th Street continues to progress with the reopening of two more intersections this weekend.
3rd Avenue and 25th Street and 4th Avenue and 25th Street will fully reopen to traffic on Saturday, October 24, 2026, restoring more access through the area. 1st Avenue and 25th Street and 2nd Avenue and 25th Street are also open.
Ongoing intersection restrictions:
- 5th Avenue and 25th Street: fully closed with the reopening anticipated on October 30.
- 6th Avenue and 25th Street: open to traffic, but with restrictions in place. One westbound lane is operating for traffic travelling from Spadina Crescent toward 6th Avenue, while the eastbound lane from 6th Avenue toward Spadina Crescent remains closed. The eastbound lane is anticipated to reopen on October 30.
Access to businesses, residences and properties is being maintained wherever possible.
As intersections reopen, some lane restrictions may remain while crews complete restoration work. Final roadway resurfacing on 25th Street will take place following completion of the remaining construction work.
The final phase of the project will include a water main replacement on 25th Street between 6th Avenue and Spadina Crescent. This work is anticipated to be completed in 2027.
Saskatoon Transit may be affected by these detours. Transit service alerts and real-time bus information are available on third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit on desktop.
