Water main replacement to begin on 4th Avenue
The City would like to remind residents that the next phase of the Downtown Watermain Lining and Infrastructure Renewal Project will begin the week of June 29.
Crews will begin replacing the water main on 4th Avenue between 24th Street and 25th Street. This will require the closure of the intersection at 4th Avenue and 24th Street for approximately three weeks, weather permitting and subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Temporary water service has already been installed for affected properties. Access to roads and driveways within the work zone will be restricted while construction is underway, and pedestrian detours may be in place to ensure safe access through the area.
Crews will also be installing a new storm sewer on 4th Avenue from 24th Street to 25th Street starting the week of July 13, which is expected to be completed by mid-August.
Water main rehabilitation on 25th Street from Spadina Crescent to 1st Avenue North will begin in August. During construction, motorists should expect traffic delays and detours in the area. Access restrictions will be in place within the work zone.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted detours and use caution when travelling near construction zones.
Saskatoon Transit may be affected by these detours. Transit service alerts and real-time bus information are available on third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit on desktop.
