The Saskatoon North Partnership for Growth (P4G) is pleased to announce the launch of the P4G project website, www.partnershipforgrowth.ca.

“This new website is the first step to providing ample opportunities for people to have their say about the future of the Saskatoon Region and contribute to the development of the Regional Plan” says Alex Fallon, Independent Chair of the P4G Regional Oversight Committee and President and CEO of the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA).

The website contains timely information about the project and upcoming events, in addition to being a forum for residents to participate in online discussions. It also includes a link to the P4G 2014 Annual Report.

In addition to www.partnershipforgrowth.ca, residents can connect with P4G on Twitter (@P4G_YXE_Region) or Facebook (facebook.com/partnershipforgrowth).

P4G consists of political leaders and administrators from the Cities of Saskatoon, Martensville, and Warman; the Town of Osler; and the Rural Municipality (RM) of Corman Park, as well as an advisory representative from SREDA.  The group hired consultant O2 Planning + Design Inc. to develop a Regional Plan for the Saskatoon Region.

 The goal of the P4G Regional Plan is to ensure each of the five partnering municipalities can benefit from growth opportunities, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs by working together. The Regional Plan, which is expected to be completed by mid-2016, will consist of plans for land use, transportation, and servicing. It will also outline the funding strategies needed to implement the Regional Plan, and propose new governance and administrative structures for the Region.

The same clean recyclable material accepted in the blue cart and the multi-unit recycling programs can now be tossed into blue bins recently placed at the four City of Saskatoon Recycling Depots. Material in the blue bins is collected regularly and taken to Cosmopolitan Industries for recycling.

Previously, recyclable material required sorting before being placed into green bins at the Recycling Depots. The green bins have been replaced with blue bins.

The City of Saskatoon operates four Recycling Depots:

• Primrose Recycling Depot – Adjacent to Lawson Civic Center
• University Heights Recycling Depot - Lowe Road
• Lakewood Civic Centre Recycling Depot– 1635 McKercher Drive
• Meadowgreen Recycling Depot – 22^nd Street W and Witney Avenue

The Recycling Depots accept the following materials:

• all paper and cardboard (flattened)
• plastics (look for symbol with number 1 – 7)
• tin cans
• milk jugs and cartons
• beverage containers (lids off)
• glass bottles and jars (rinse first)
• bagged plastic bags and bagged shredded paper

For information on disposal of other items such as clothing, tires, microwaves and hazardous waste, visit saskwastereduction.ca. Electronics and paint can be taken to SARCAN.

By putting waste in the right place and tossing your clean recyclables into a blue bin, you can help grow a greener Saskatoon.
