Work at the Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre continues to progress, with 83% of construction complete. The project team remains focused on completing key pool work while advancing interior finishing and fit-out in parallel. The overall program remains targeted for the facility to return to operations on September 1, 2026.
What’s Been Completed So Far
- Competition Pool (50 m): Work in the competition pool area is substantially advanced, including major repair activities and readiness work to support upcoming testing, finishing, and commissioning steps.
- Inside the Facility: Change rooms and adjacent spaces continue to advance through finishing and fit-out, including ongoing electrical, painting, and installation activities. Remaining benches/vanities and locker/partition work is progressing as materials arrive and areas become available.
- Building Exterior / Envelope: Targeted exterior/envelope work continues where feasible, including parapet cladding/capping and select items supporting building enclosure and access.
What’s Next
In the weeks ahead, the focus will remain on completing remaining pool work and moving through the next major stages of commissioning and final finishes, including:
- Advancing competition pool readiness work to support testing, subsequent pool fill, and commissioning activities
- Continuing interior finishing and fit-out in change rooms and adjacent areas (including remaining fixtures and installations)
With construction well advanced, the project is now in a focused phase to complete remaining critical activities and move through commissioning so the facility can reopen as planned and serve the community reliably for years to come.

Upgrade & Facility Closure Project
Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre was built in 1975 and many of the components are nearing the end of their functional life.
The project is anticipated to include the following upgrades to the facility:
- Accessibility and inclusivity improvements to ensure the building and its features will be a welcoming space for the entire community.
- Upgrades to the 50-metre pool basin.
- Change room and washroom renovations to better serve customers and families.
- Water treatment and building mechanical system upgrades for improved efficiency.
- Flat roof upgrades including vapor barrier and insulation to increase energy efficiency and air quality.

Programming
The same programs and services will continue to be available at the other 5 Leisure Centres (Cosmo, Lakewood and Lawson Civic Centres, Saskatoon Field House and Shaw Centre) and where possible, programming opportunities have been expanded at the facilities.
