Dog Parks
Enjoy some off-leash time with your dog at one of the City of Saskatoon's Dog Parks. Dog Parks are naturalized spaces where dogs are permitted to be off-leash while under the control of their owner. This allows both owner and dog to enjoy exercise together while socializing with others. A valid dog license is required to access any Dog Park and owners should ensure their dog has up to date vaccinations prior to visiting the Dog Park.
Is your dog ready for the Dog Park?
Dog Parks can be a great place to get exercise and socialize. Although, not all dogs and owners are quite ready for the off-leash experience.
Before going to a Dog Park ensure your dog is well behaved around pets and people. Your dog should know and obey basic commands of come, sit and stay before visiting a Dog Park. Consider taking obedience classes or hiring a qualified dog trainer.
Please remember, no owner of a dog shall permit or allow their dog to become a nuisance to other persons or animals in an off-leash area. In the event that a dog becomes a nuisance, the owner of the dog shall immediately restrain the dog by placing the dog on a leash not exceeding two metres in length and removing the dog from the off-leash area.

Dog Parks for Small Dogs
The City of Saskatoon added two new Dog Parks at Hyde Park and Charlottetown Park. Dogs must be under 40 cm (16") at the shoulder and less than 9 kg (20 lbs).
Water Safety
The Sutherland Beach Dog Park features unique terrain and is one area with river access where dogs are permitted to be off leash while under the control of their owner. Community members are advised to always exercise an elevated level of caution when around any large body of water. Keep a close watch on children and pets when visiting trails, parks, or off-leash areas that may run adjacent to the South Saskatchewan River. For more information visit saskatoon.ca/watersafety.
Shared Spaces
Dog Parks are naturalized areas that share the space with wildlife such as coyotes, foxes, porcupines, muskrats, beavers and deer. If encountered, treat wild animals with respect and avoid approaching too closely. Please ensure that your dog is always within eyesight and under your control when enjoying the Dog Parks and don't forget to keep your pet's vaccinations up to date to protect them from diseases including rabies and distemper. At times wildlife may need to be removed from the Dog Parks. The capture and removal of wildlife is only made possible with current information and specific location details. Please call Pest Management (Mon-Fri 7a.m. - 4p.m.) at 306-975-3300 to report a concern.

Pet Prohibited Areas
Pets are not permitted in the following locations:
- Playgrounds, paddling pools, spray pads and cemeteries
- Kinsmen Park, Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo
- The North East Swale (North of Evergreen)
Dog Park Etiquette
- Keep your dog on-leash upon entering and exiting the dog park.
- Be a good buddy and interact with your dog, keeping him or her within sight at all times. Off-leash doesn’t mean unattended.
- Scoop your dog’s poop. Bring a few extra baggies, just in case.
- Play nice! Your dog should know and obey basic commands of come, sit and stay before visiting a Dog Park.
- If you take a toy to the park, expect other dogs to play with it. Better yet, leave the toys at home.
- Is your dog hot to trot? The mere presence of a female dog in heat can cause a frenzy among potential four-legged Romeos. It’s best to have your dog spayed or neutered before planning a Dog Park visit.
- If you have concerns about the behaviour of a dog or its owner while at the park, contact the Saskatoon Animal Control Agency at 306-385-PETS (7387).
- Have fun! When dogs and owners play by the rules, everyone has a good time!
Dog Park Development
Silverwood Dog Park New shared pathway signs and pathway markings will be installed in spring 2024 at Silverwood Dog Park. Silverwood Dog Park features an asphalt pathway that is shared by pedestrians, cyclists, dogs and their owners. Markings down the middle of the pathway will separate traffic flow, providing a split roadway for users to travel though the park space. The Animal Services team would like to remind park users to share the pathway, follow the markings and posted signs, be aware of your surroundings and travel at a slow speed when cycling through this shared space. Hampton Dog Park Upgrades to Hampton Dog Park have been completed! Upgrades included improvements to fencing, the parking lot, signage and waste bins. The parking lot is now able to support up to 25 vehicles. |
Brighton Dog Park The City of Saskatoon has identified a District Park within the Brighton neighbourhood for the development of a new Dog Park. This development will take place as construction allows. Further updates will be provided here as they become available. |
Chief Whitecap Dog Park Construction that directly impacted the Dog Park is now complete and includes an expanded north parking lot, adding an additional 22 spots. Over the next two years, work will continue on the Great Trail that goes outside of the dog park area. |
Avalon Dog Park Phase 2 of the Avalon Dog Park expansion project opened to the public on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. With the expansion area now open, users have access to an additional 2.6 acres of space at Avalon Dog Park. Animal Services continues to plan for future improvements to turf at Avalon Dog Park. Dog Park Developments Animal Services continues to analyze and implement citizen feedback to maintain and enhance the Dog Parks and amenities located throughout Saskatoon. Our team is working to add additional Dog Parks in areas of the city that are significantly further away from current Dog Park areas. Dog Park Ambassador Program
The Dog Park Ambassador Program is a volunteer program which engages the citizens of Saskatoon to provide input on opportunities for improvement for Animal Services. This includes but is not limited to contributions to park design, fundraising activities, monitoring Dog Park conditions, clean-up, and more. The program also aims to improve Animal Control awareness both at the park and in the surrounding neighbourhood to ultimately foster responsible pet ownership and to encourage bylaw compliance.
