Structure Fire - 400 block of Fairmont Drive
At 3:31 a.m. on August 19, 2025, the Saskatoon Fire Department Communications Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a fire in an apartment building in the 400 block of Fairmont Drive. Three fire engines, one rescue unit, one ladder truck and the Battalion Chief were dispatched. First arriving fire crews were on scene at 3:36 a.m. and reported flames showing from the second floor of a three storey apartment complex. Incoming fire crews were assigned their tactical duties upon their arrival. An additional fire engine was requested to support fire suppression at 3:38 a.m. as the fire was moving towards the roof and attic space. Utilities were shut down for safety on the fire scene.
The fire was brought under control at 4:24 a.m.
A Fire Investigator was requested to attend.
Complete extinguishment was declared at 4:39 a.m. Fire crews began being released from the fire scene and returning to their respective stations. The fire scene was turned over to the Fire Investigator at 6:22 a.m.
No injuries to firefighters or civilians occurred as a result of this fire. Two suites sustained fire damage and 4 people were relocated and rehoused by the property owner. The fire alarm system is being serviced and some smoke alarms replaced. All other occupants will be able to return to their suites.
The fire caused approximately $200,000 damage. A fire investigation is currently underway. Further information will be released once available.
