Information for Candidates

Nomination period opens Tuesday, September 22.

Nominations of candidates for mayor, councillor, public school trustee, and Catholic school trustee will be received by the Returning Officer during normal office hours (8:00 am - 5:00 pm) from Tuesday, September 22, 2020 until Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Saskatoon Civic Election Office - 226 Cardinal Crescent, as well as on Wednesday, October 7 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. 

Nomination forms must be accompanied by a deposit of $100 in cash, cheque, or money order, payable to the City of Saskatoon. Candidates for mayor and councillor are required to submit completed public disclosure forms (new for the 2020 municipal election). Candidates for public school and Catholic school board trustees are required to submit a criminal record check and vulnerable sector search.

Municipal elections and school board trustee elections occur every four years, or at any time (through a by-election) should a vacancy on City Council or on one of the school boards occur. Visit the following links for more information related to being a candidate.

Jun 1 - Campaign expense period begins
Sep 22 - Call for nominations (Nomination period begins at 8:00 am - to submit your nomination papers make an appointment by contacting elections@saskatoon.ca or calling 306-657-8683)
Sep 25 - Election signs/posters can be erected
Oct 7 at 4:00 pm - Nomination day (Nomination period closes)
Oct 8 at 4:00 pm - Withdrawal day
Oct 30 - Advance polls begin
Nov 9 - Election Day
