Scene Upon Arrival:

HAZMAT Team found large commercial Post Office, reports of a suspicious package

Action(s) Taken:

HAZMAT crew wearing appropriate PPE entered structure to identify product found with suspicious package. Product was tested and was found not to be a hazard. HAZMAT crews isolated product and suspicious package and removed from the building. Package was removed from product and placed in an evidence collection bag. Package was turned over to the SPS. Building was restored to normal function.

More Information:
  • A search confirmed all occupants safely evacuated.
  • There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
  • The scene was turned over to Police for further investigation.

Action(s) Taken:

Fire crews advanced hose lines to extinguish fire

Fire crews searched garage to confirm no one was inside

Firefighters observed flames and smoke coming from the rear of the the home

Action(s) Taken:
  • Crews advanced a hose line to apply water from the exterior of the home, once cooled down, crews advanced hose lines to the interior to extinguish the fire, while another crew entered the building to search and confirm no occupants remained inside.
  • The homeowner confirmed no occupants were inside the building
  • the fire was brought quickly under control
  • one of the occupants was treated for smoke inhalation

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the rear detached garage

  • Crews advanced a hose line to apply water from the exterior of the building to bring fire under control
  • another crew entered to confirm no occupants were inside
  • Fire crews set up large fans to remove any lingering smoke and toxins from the building.
