Motor vehicle collision – 51st Street and Millar Avenue

Firefighters found  deliver truck and a SUV involved in a collision 

Action(s) Taken:

Crew used extrication tool to pry door open to gain access to driver

Crew used a saw to cut small traffic sign away from passenger door to gain access to passenger 

Passenger and driver care was turned over to awaiting ambulance

More Information:
  • The scene was turned over to Police for further investigation.

Structure Fire- 1700 Block of Avenue B North

Firefighters observed smoke coming from the home

Action(s) Taken:
  • Crews advanced hose line into the structure to apply water to the fire, while another crew entered the building to search and confirm no occupants remained inside.
  • Fire crews set up large fans to remove any lingering smoke and toxins from the building.
More Information:
  • The fire has been completely extinguished.
  • A search confirmed all occupants safely evacuated.
  • There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
  • A fire investigator is on scene to conduct an examination to identify the cause, origin and damage estimate.

Multiple motor vehicle fires 600 & 700 blocks Ave J S.

First arriving crews found two vehicles on fire 1 block apart.

Action(s) Taken:

First arriving apparatus advanced hose lines to extinguish the first vehicle.

An additional apparatus was dispatched to extinguish the remaining vehicle.

  • The fire has been completely extinguished.
  • There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
  • The scene was turned over to Police for further investigation.

Firefighters’ National Memorial Day, September 14

As a tribute to the firefighters who risk their lives to keep Canadians safe, the second Sunday in September of each year is formally designated in memory of firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty. This year, Firefighters’ National Memorial Day will take place on Sunday, September 14.

“On Firefighters' National Memorial Day, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice and unwavering dedication of those who have served and those we have lost,” says Fire Chief Doug Wegren. “With deep gratitude and pride, we remember their selfless service and give thanks for their enduring commitment to protecting our community.”

The Saskatoon Fire Department will observe a moment of silence at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 14. Firefighters will be at attention on the ramps of their stations and flags at half-mast in honour of Firefighters’ National Memorial Day.

Motor Vehicle Accident - Highway 219 and Township Road 352

First arriving crews found a two-vehicle collision.

Action(s) Taken:

Crews blocked traffic from both directions.

Visibility was extremely poor due to heavy fog.

Crews checked both vehicles and determined extrication was needed to remove one patient from a Grand Caravan.

Crews used hydraulic tools to remove part of the vehicle and extricated the patient.

The patient was turned over to Medavie for transport to hospital.
