Keeping you connected in 2026: City of Saskatoon Public Notices moving online
Starting January 1, 2026, the majority of the City’s Public Notices will no longer appear in print in the Saturday edition of the StarPhoenix.
With these newspaper insertions ending, the City remains committed to keeping residents well-informed and conveniently connected about matters of importance that affect our community.
How to access Public Notices in 2026
We’ve made it quicker and easier through:
- New homepage link: A new, clear direct link to Public Notices is now included on the homepage of the City’s website at saskatoon.ca
- Modernized webpage: Easy navigation to explore current and archived Public Notices at saskatoon.ca/publicnotices
- Printed copies: Public Notices will continue to be posted in City Hall lobby.
- Digital updates: The City's social media channels will be used to create ongoing awareness on how to access Public Notices.
The City is legally required under The Cities Act to issue Public Notice before City Council or one of its committees holds discussion on, or considers decisions on, matters such as:
- Land use applications including discretionary use, Zoning Bylaw and Official Community Plan and Concept Plan amendments
- Financial matters e.g. intent to borrow, selling land below fair market value
- Permanent closure of a street
- Public hearings or meetings
Public Notices invite residents to participate in their local government’s decision-making process by sharing their written perspectives or by attending meetings.
Have questions about the requirements for writing or presenting to City Council or any of its committees on a Public Notice matter? Visit saskatoon.ca/council or call the City Clerk’s Office at 306-975-3240.
To find dates for Public Meetings of City Council or those of its boards, committees and commissions, visit saskatoon.ca/meetings or check the civic events calendar at saskatoon.ca.
Council, Standing Policy Committees and Governance and Priorities Committee meetings are broadcast live, and can be viewed at saskatoon.ca/livestream while the meeting is taking place.
This change follows City Council’s update to its Public Notice Policy (C01-021), approved in November 2025, which removes the requirement for print publication.
