Intent to Borrow
The Cities Act and Bylaw No. 8171, Public Notice Policy Bylaw, 2003, require that Public Notice be provided before borrowing money, lending money or guaranteeing the repayment of a loan.
City Council will consider a report from the Administration at its Regular Business meeting to be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 9:30 a.m., hosted in the Council Chamber, Saskatoon City Hall, recommending:
That the following borrowing be approved, in principle, and authorized through the City’s capital budget and capital planning processes:
- That borrowing of up to $31,700,000 be approved, in principle, to finance the Indoor Recreation Facilities Project (Capital Project P.02600); and
- An allowable variance of up to 10% of the approved borrowing amount for Capital Project P.02600 be permitted. Any variance greater than 10% of the borrowing amount identified must be reported to City Council.
Capital Project P.02600 currently has authorized borrowings totaling $9,750,000. City Council is being asked to consider increasing the authorized borrowing by $21,950,000, resulting in total authorized borrowing of $31,700,000 for the project.
