Water Rescue - 3rd. Ave. S.

- The scene was turned over to Police for further investigation.
First arriving crews observed a paddleboarder bringing a person in distress towards shore.
Water rescue personnel advanced a rope to the paddleboarder to assist moving the patient to shore.
Water rescue personnel transferred the patient to the rescue boat.
The patient was taken to the Fire Department boat launch, then transported to hospital.
Update: Fatality at Structure Fire - 600 Block of Avenue N South

The Fire Investigator has concluded the scene examination where a fatality occurred in the 600 block of Avenue N South. Fire originated at the bottom of the stairs in the basement. Cause of the fire is undetermined. Damaged is approximated at $125, 000. The structure has been closed by the Saskatoon Fire Department due to the amount of fire and water damage.
It is unknown why the occupant was unable to evacuate at the time of the fire.
Fatality at Structure Fire - 600 Block of Avenue N South
June 28, 2025 - 1:13 pm
At 9:13 a.m. on June 28, 2025, the Saskatoon Fire Department Communications Center received a report of a possible fire in the 600 block of Avenue N South. Three fire engines, one rescue unit, one ladder truck and the Battalion Chief were dispatched. Fire crews arrive at 9:16 a.m. and reported smoke from the roof and visible inside a structure. At 9:28 a.m., fire crews located a person inside the structure and removed the patient. The fire was brought under control at 9:43 a.m.
A fire investigator was requested and attended the scene.
The lone occupant removed by firefighters has passed away.
Our Fire Investigator will work conduct a fire investigation when practical and will work with the Saskatoon Police Service. No other details are available at this time. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
Structure Fire 200 block Ave. D S.

- The fire has been completely extinguished.
- A fire investigator is on scene to conduct an examination to identify the cause, origin and damage estimate.
First arriving crews observed smoke coming from a detached garage.
Crews deployed hose lines and performed an interior attack.
Crews determined there were no occupants in the garage.
Structure fire – 1100 Block of McKercher Drive

- Crews advanced a hose line to apply water on the exterior fire while another crew entered the building to search and confirm no occupants remained inside.
- Fire crews set up large fans to remove any lingering smoke and toxins from the suite.
- The fire has been completely extinguished.
- A search confirmed all occupants safely evacuated.
- There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
- A fire investigator is on scene to conduct an examination to identify the cause, origin and damage estimate.
