Scene Upon Arrival:

Firefighters observed smoke and flames exterior of building

Action(s) Taken:

Crews advanced hose line to apply water to the exterior fire while crew entered building to search for fire extension

Crews ventilated building to clear smoke

More Information:
  • The fire has been completely extinguished.
  • There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
  • A fire investigator is on scene to conduct an examination to identify the cause, origin and damage estimate.

Update - 100 Block of Boykowich Bend

Update:  Fire Investigator has conducted a scene examination for cause and origin determination. 

Cause of the fire:  Undetermined due to extent of fire damage

Origin of fire:  Between 135 and 139 Boykowich Bend as fire involved both properties, fire extended into both interiors from the exterior.  Fire originated around waste disposal bins.  135 Boykowich had the most fire damage.

Damage:  It is approximated that 135 received $500,000 damage due to fire from exterior and 139 receiving $100,00 from fire damage.  

All occupants evacuated safely and were re-housed.

Structure fire 100 Block Boykowich Bend involving 2 Houses

Scene Upon Arrival:

Firefighters observed smoke and heavy flames coming from the roof of both houses.

Action(s) Taken:

Crews advanced multiple hose lines to extinguish the fire from the exterior of both houses.

Crews set up an aerial ladder to extinguish the in the roof of the two structures

All occupants were safely out of the houses

  • A search confirmed all occupants safely evacuated.
  • There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

Structure Fire 1500 Block Forest Dr.

Firefighters observed smoke and flames coming from an attached garage

 

Action(s) Taken:
  • Crews advanced hose lines to apply water to the fire
  • Two occupants were located and evacuated by firefighters. Fire crews searched the building to confirm no other occupants or pets remained inside.
  • Fire crews set up large fans to remove any lingering smoke and toxins from the building.

Update #2: Structure Fire – 800 block of 56th Street East

May 8, 2025 - 4:18 pm

The structure fire in the 800 block of 56th Street East is fully extinguished and fire crews have left the scene.

Although the initial report indicated a fire on the roof of the structure, the exact area of origin remains undetermined. The building is a total loss and a portion of it was brought down to aid in extinguishing the fire. Fencing now surrounds the fire debris and the fire was contained to the single structure.

A fire investigator will begin an examination of the scene on May 9th to explore the cause of the fire and determine a damage estimate.
