Snow and ice management update – plan for residential streets
February 5, 2026 - 10:00pm
With recent warm weather and below zero temperatures in the forecast, deep ruts and water pooling have developed on streets in residential neighborhoods. To address mobility challenges which are expected to worsen with the drop in temperatures, the City is undertaking a city-wide rut levelling on local streets with City crews and Contractor support, starting tonight.
The work is expected to take approximately 5 days to complete city-wide with priority street snow removal to be paused.
There are approximately 24 graders mobilized to be on the road tonight in residential areas based on conditions and coordinated with the collection schedules, and crews will move into other affected neighborhoods when the collection schedules allow.
Please give road equipment the space they need to operate, signaled by their blue and amber flashing lights.
Drivers are encouraged to adjust to winter conditions, keeping a safe distance from other vehicles.

Crews monitoring and addressing snow and slush through mid-winter thaw
February 4, 2026 - 6:00am
City crews are continuing grading and snow removal on priority streets, while monitoring loose snow and slush with temperatures forecasted to remain warm into next week. Grading and snow removal may be paused or postponed on some remaining streets if conditions change.
Crews will also be inspecting rutting on local streets this week and addressing areas of concern.
When temperatures fluctuate, potholes can form. Residents can help by using the Report a Pothole Map to report a pothole, and crews will inspect and use cold mix for patching where required on priority streets.
Residents with concerns about specific locations are encouraged to contact the Customer Care Centre at Customercare@saskatoon.ca or 306-975-2476 so crews can assess and respond as needed.
