The City is pleased to launch the first edition of Saskatoon’s Good Neighbour Guide (Guide). The Guide is intended to provide a handy overview of the most common bylaws, standards and regulations to help keep Saskatoon neighbourhoods safe, clean and beautiful.

City crews have begun annual winterization of the 450 irrigation systems in Saskatoon parks and along roadway streetscapes. Winterization is an important maintenance procedure to help ensure the longevity of the City’s irrigation infrastructure.

Irrigation winterization involves the use of large compressors that force air through the irrigation system, removing any residual water so it will not freeze within the underground pipes. The force of compressed air exiting through sprinkler heads may pick up and propel debris within the work zone.

The Cumberland Avenue intersection at Isabella Street will be closed starting Tuesday, September 8th at 8:00 a.m. for water main repairs. This work is expected to take three days to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Saskatoon’s Senator Sid Buckwold Bridge is stronger with a smoother driving surface and a wider, more protected pedestrian walkway. The two-year, $20 million rehabilitation project on the 54-year-old structure is complete and the bridge will fully reopen on Sunday, September 6.

Saskatchewan summers goes by too quickly, but there’s Labour Day long weekend ahead to still get out and visit green spaces in our community, or Leisure Centres for some family fun.

Remember that public health orders remain in place to prevent transmission of COVID-19 and that we should all continue to practice the following preventative measures:
•       Wash your hands frequently

•       Practice physical distancing of two metres (including in parks, dog parks, and public areas)

•       Wear a mask in settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained

The Jack Adilman Fund Capital Grant for Amateur Sports Organizations is now accepting applications for one-time capital projects that advance amateur sports at the recreational level in Saskatoon. The maximum grant available is $200,000.

Jack Adilman (1920-1992), prominent businessman, sportsman and tireless supporter of amateur sports in Saskatoon, provided a bequest through his estate to support the future of amateur sports. From this bequest, the City established a grant in 2011 and has awarded over $750,000 since its inception.

Starting today, crews will begin pruning trees on civic property in Caswell Hill North, Westview, Queen Elizabeth and Pacific Heights as part of the City’s Boulevard Tree Maintenance Program. Tree maintenance operations in these four neighbourhoods will continue until December 11, 2020.

The Boulevard Tree Maintenance Program follows a regular pruning cycle to help preserve the health of the City’s tree inventory, as well as to eliminate hazards and provide clearances from buildings, signs, streetlights and utility wires.
