Naturalized Parks

Naturalized parks are designed to mimic the naturally occurring landscapes of the prairies and feature a variety of habitats, such as grasslands, wetlands and aspen parkland. Naturalized parks are important for Saskatoon's green network and provide many benefits, including:

  • Biodiversity by using native plants and grasses, drought resistant plants and wetlands
  • Spaces for recreation, learning and connection close to nature
  • Urban habitats for wildlife like pollinating insects and birds
  • Protection from flooding
  • Improved air quality
  • Water conservation through reduced irrigation
  • Resiliency to extreme weather
