City Administration is proposing the development of a new bylaw to improve the City’s ability to protect trees on public property. City Council’s Standing Policy Committee on Environment, Utilities and Corporate Services will consider a report at its meeting December 5, which recommends the development of a new tree protection bylaw, as well as revisions to the existing Trees on City Property Council Policy, to improve the protection, growth and preservation of public trees.

Following fresh snowfall through the night, the City will be returning its focus to high traffic roads such as Circle Drive, Idylwyld Drive, College Drive, and Attridge Drive.    

What you can expect from us

4th Avenue will be closed between 20th and 21st streets on Friday, December 2, starting at 9:00 a.m. for vault installation work. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the work zone. This project is expected to take six hours to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

After two days of deliberations, Saskatoon City Council concluded its 2023 Budget review November 29, 2022, to finalize the City’s operating and capital budgets, boards, commissions and utility budgets for this second year of the 2022/2023 Multi-Year Business Plan and Budget cycle. The 2023 Operating and Capital Plan was prior approved in principle in 2021 but required formal approval by City Council at the 2023 Budget deliberations as per the Council Policy.

City crews, with contractor assistance, have been working through the night as the storm brought an additional 13 cm of snow. Crews are addressing the snow accumulation and applying de-icing material to bridge decks and the driving lanes of major roads such as Circle Drive, Idylwyld Drive, College Drive, and Attridge Drive.

Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre is preparing for a major facility upgrade and closure.

The project will include replacement of the 50-metre pool basin, water treatment system and a portion of the roof, as well as upgrades to the building's mechanical system, insulation and vapour barrier; all of which are nearing the end of their functional life. Improvements regarding accessibility and inclusivity are also being completed to ensure the building and its features will be a welcoming space for the entire community.  The project is expected to take 18-24 months to complete.

Spadina Crescent will be closed between 21st and 22nd streets starting Tuesday, November 29, at 8:00 a.m. for water main repair work. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the work zone. This project is expected to take three days to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.
