Saskatoon continues to make strides in re-developing the environmental landscape throughout the city.

In an effort to increase local green innovation, climate change resiliency and infrastructure planning, the City has been approved for environmental funding amounting to roughly $500,000 from the Government of Canada, delivered through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Saskatoon Transit reminds residents that they have partnered with the Saskatoon Ex to offer free Transit service to Superpass holders during the week of the Exhibition (August 7 – 12). Superpass holders can ride free every day on regular Transit routes to and from the Exhibition grounds by showing their Superpass when entering a Saskatoon Transit bus.

August 7, 2018 - 6:00am

The Saskatoon Ex Parade takes place on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Road and parking restrictions will be in place on the downtown parade route from 10 a.m. until the parade concludes.

Spadina Avenue from 24th Street to Warburton Street will be the parade staging area and will be closed from 5:30 a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m. This closure will include Queen Street east of 7th Avenue.

The parade will follow the traditional route as follows:

As some prepare for a long weekend or more time away from home, please take a few minutes to stormproof before you go. Heavy summer downpours are a leading cause of basement floods.  

Since April 2018 and as part of a pilot project, the University of Waterloo has been assessing flood risk for Saskatoon homes.  Homeowners may think they've done all they can; however, preliminary analysis reveals opportunities to reduce the risk of flooding in a major storm exists for each of the assessed homes in Saskatoon.

The Fall Leisure Guide will be delivered to Saskatoon households on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, and can be picked up at any indoor Leisure Centre, Saskatoon Public Library location, or City Hall.  The Leisure Guide will also be available on the City’s website at saskatoon.ca/leisureguide beginning Friday, August 3, 2018.

The Leisure Guide is Saskatoon’s go-to source for fitness programs, recreational activities, and arts and culture opportunities for all ages and abilities.
