Tuesday’s weather consisted of a mix of rain and snow, followed by a drop in temperature. City crews were out all-night monitoring streets for icy conditions and applying salt (used to soften ice during mild cold temperatures) to improve traction. Crews focused on high speed and high traffic streets, intersections and bridge decks. Even with the use of de-icing material, extra moisture may cause slippery conditions during peak driving times, especially on bridges.

Currently there are 13 sanders out operated by City crews focusing on priority streets.

4th Avenue will be closed between 20th and 21st streets on Friday, November 4, at 9:00 a.m. for vault installation work. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the work zone. This project is expected to take six hours to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

A report headed to the Standing Policy Committee on Environment, Utilities and Corporate Services outlines progress that the City of Saskatoon (City) has made toward greater sustainability and lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The Climate Action Plan: Progress Report 2021 (2021 Progress Report) will be presented to the committee on November 7. The report tallies the progress that has been made on the Climate Action Plan, which includes The Low Emissions Community Plan (LEC Plan) and the Corporate Climate Adaptation Strategy

CIRCLE DR SB RAMP TO 22ND ST WB SHOULDER REDUCED
(Maintenance)
Start: November 3, 9:00 a.m. End: November 3, 3:00 p.m.

Drivers on Circle Drive should expect continued delays approaching Avenue C while City crews undertake an extensive repair to the electronic system that operates the traffic signals.

Traffic restrictions at the intersection were altered at 10 a.m.:

The City of Saskatoon has a traffic light down at Circle Drive and Avenue C. A timeline for restoration is not yet known. In the meantime, residents should obey the rules of a 4-way stop and expect delays.

The City of Saskatoon will provide an update once more information is available, and the traffic light has been restored.

Weather models predict continued rain and near freezing temperatures overnight, with snow starting tomorrow morning. City crews and equipment are fully prepared to respond to winter weather coming our way.

Road conditions can deteriorate with the combination of moisture from rain and snow and become slippery with below zero temperatures. Drivers should adjust their driving for the road conditions, leave extra room in case you need to stop suddenly and watch for blue and yellow flashing lights on road equipment.
