Starting today, January 5, the City of Saskatoon will begin mailing 2026 Assessment Notices to about 14,000 property owners who have had changes to their property’s assessment, tax status or ownership since January 1, 2025. These notices provide updated information that helps determine property taxes for the upcoming year.
The City’s 2026 Assessment Roll is now open for public review
From January 5 to February 6, 2026, property owners can review their property’s assessment details or look up other properties in Saskatoon. This review period is an opportunity to confirm the information the City has on file for your property.
“The 30-Day Assessment Review and Appeal period is an important time for property owners to check their assessment for accuracy, fairness and equity,” says Bryce Trew, City Assessor. “Our team is here to answer your assessment-related questions, connect with us first before considering filing a formal appeal in 2026.”
How to review the 2026 Assessment Roll
Take time to review your property’s assessed value. If something doesn’t look right, you have 30 days, from January 5 – February 6, 2026, to file a formal appeal (fees apply). You do not need to receive a 2026 Assessment Notice to file an appeal in 2026.
Assessment appeal hearings are public, and documents filed will be posted online, subject to exceptions under The Cities Act.

Scheduled tree maintenance begins in Mount Royal and Buena Vista
January 2, 2026 - 10:00am
Starting Monday, January 5, 2026, crews will begin pruning trees on civic property in Mount Royal and parts of Buena Vista as part of the City's Boulevard Tree Maintenance Program. Tree maintenance in these neighbourhoods will continue until March 31, 2026. The remainder of Buena Vista will be pruned later in the year.
The Boulevard Tree Maintenance Program follows a regular pruning cycle to help preserve the health of the City's tree inventory, eliminate hazards and provide clearance from buildings, signs, streetlights and utility wires.
Tree maintenance often requires road restrictions. The City reminds pedestrians, cyclists and drivers to ensure safety is a priority by respecting the work zone and obeying all road restrictions and signage.
For more information, visit saskatoon.ca/treemaintenance.
Residents are reminded to drop off Christmas trees at the Material Recovery Centre
January 2, 2026 - 9:00am
Residents can drop off live Christmas trees for free at the Sort & Go area at the Material Recovery Centre (MRC) until January 31. The MRC is located at 42 Valley Road, near the landfill and is open daily, seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. By diverting your trees away from the landfill, they instead will be chipped and composted or used as mulch.
We would like to remind residents that they are only permitted to drop off their Christmas trees at the City-approved depot at the MRC. The previous community-based Christmas tree drop off sites are no longer available for use.
For more information about Christmas tree composting, please visit: saskatoon.ca/christmastree. Thanks putting waste in the right place.
