On Labour Day, Monday, September 2, 2019, the City of Saskatoon will have a number of adjusted civic services, and altered holiday hours, details below.

City Hall:  All Administrative Offices are closed. City Hall reopens Tuesday, September 3 at 8:00 a.m.

Pay Parking Stations: No payment is required on Monday, September 2.
Reminder: motorists are still required to park their vehicles within area time limits posted

Transit, Saskatoon Transit’s endorsed mobile app, announces today a major update to its multimodal trip planner. With Transit+ riders can now make first-and last-mile connections to buses with personal bikes, Uber ridehail, or riide taxis, making it easier than ever for riders to get aboard public transportation.

33rd Street West between Avenue P and Howell Avenue will be fully closed starting at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29 for valve replacement work. Traffic detours will be in place. This work is expected to take two days to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Today, the City, along with more than a dozen community partners made up of First Nation, Métis and non-Indigenous employers, employment, education and training institutions, business associations and community organizations, launched the Indigenous Engagement Employer Handbook. A resource for small and medium sized businesses, the Handbook aims to provide guidance and practical options for employers seeking to improve their Indigenous workforce recruitment and retention outcomes.

Queen Street between 8th Avenue North and 9th Avenue North will be fully closed starting at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28 to allow for craning material work. Traffic detours will be in place. This work is expected to take three hours to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

In this free public talk from the Artists in Place: The Bunkhouse Project, artists Marcel Petit and Wendy Sharpe will talk about their individual practices and then interview each other about how they make their collaboration work and the importance of artistically honouring the connection to the spaces where people have lived, loved and created memories.

The City of Saskatoon again received a positive endorsement from S&P Global Rating Services, which today reconfirmed the City’s ‘AAA’ credit rating.

“Of course we’re very encouraged with this rating,” says Clae Hack, Interim Chief Financial Officer. “The rating agency points to a ‘strong and diversified’ economy in our city, the fact we’ve kept debt ‘minimal’ and are able to pass budgets before the start of the fiscal year as benefits.”
