Pay parking stations will not require payment on Saturday, July 1, 2017.  Motorists are still required to observe posted time limits when parking their vehicles. Pay parking stations will require payment on Monday, July 3, 2017.

Phase I improvements are now complete at the Avalon Dog Park, located at Broadway Avenue and Glasgow Street.  The dog park will reopen at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017.  Improvements include the development of more accessible and user-friendly pathways, improved access points, gates and fencing, and the restoration of turf.  Temporary orange fencing surrounding some areas of the park will be in place for the remainder of the year to ensure the new turf continues to grow.

As a result of customer feedback and route monitoring, Saskatoon Transit will be making adjustments to select routes beginning on Sunday, July 2 to help improve service. These service changes should allow for a quicker daily commute, reduced wait times and fewer missed connections for customers traveling to-and-from downtown along 22nd Street.

Take Saskatoon Transit for fast, convenient service to and from the Canada Day celebrations at Diefenbaker Park on Saturday, July 1.

Ride the bus for free from Centre Mall, Market Mall, Lawson Heights Mall or Confederation Mall to Diefenbaker Park. These special routes will operate every 30 minutes between 12 noon and 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The schedules for these buses can be viewed at optimistcanadadaysaskatoon.com.

City staff now have a new tool available to assist in building successful partnerships with First Nations, Métis, and other Aboriginal organizations with the launch of “ayisīnowak [a/ee/see/ni/wak, the people]:  A Communications Guide [kâ-isi-pîkiskwâtoyahk, are communicating]” (Guide).

This will be a very exciting Canada Day! If you are choosing to celebrate with fireworks, the Saskatoon Fire Department reminds residents of Saskatoon that low hazard fireworks can only be detonated on private property, between the hours of dusk and 11:00 p.m. on Canada Day, Saturday, July 1.

The City’s summer youth centres open for the season on Monday, July 3, 2017.  All youth, ages 12 to 16, are invited to drop in for sports and games, listen to music, participate in special events, or hang out with friends in a friendly environment supervised by fun, qualified leaders.

All youth centres are free to attend.  Unless otherwise stated, hours of operation are Monday to Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (closed Monday, August 7, 2017).

The City’s 45 summer playground programs will be starting on Monday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 4, 2017.  A list of locations are available on the Where to Play interactive map at www.saskatoon.ca/play.

Designed for 2 to 12 year olds, these free drop-in programs include water play, sports, crafts, games, music, and much more.  Playground programs operate rain or shine Mondays to Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
