Bus service to Blades vs Wheat Kings

Direct service from the Special Events Stop (23rd Street and 2nd Avenue) to see the Saskatoon Blades take on the Brandon Wheat Kings at SaskTel Centre on Wednesday, March 18, at 7:00 p.m. is available at the following times:
Post-event drop-off is at the downtown terminal and regular fares apply ($3.00 per trip). Fare can be purchased on your mobile phone using either the TGo or transit app, transfers and passes are also accepted. Typically, buses arrive onsite 30 minutes prior to the end of the event.

University Bridge traffic restrictions lifted
March 17, 2026 - 4:50pm
Repairs to the damaged sanitary sewer pipe under the University Bridge are now complete. Normal operation of the wastewater system has resumed. Road restrictions are being removed with all vehicle lanes open for this evening.
On Wednesday morning (March 18, 2026) after rush hour, there will be a short-duration restriction required for the westbound curb lane for City crews to safely remove the temporary bypass pipe that is currently on the north walkway. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the pedestrian walkway and all vehicle lanes are expected to be open for normal traffic flow by early Wednesday afternoon.

7th Street will be closed between Argyle Avenue and Early Drive starting Wednesday, March 18, at 8:00 a.m. for a connection replacement. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the area. This project is expected to take two days to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

City taking action during pothole and spring melt season
March 17, 2026 - 9:00am
As temperatures begin to climb and snow starts to melt, residents may see water collecting on streets and in back lanes across Saskatoon. Some temporary ponding is expected during the spring thaw, but the City is actively monitoring conditions and responding where drainage problems occur.
Crews are continuing to remove snow piles from priority streets. Although warmer weather naturally reduces snowbanks, removing them now helps limit excessive water buildup, collects remaining sand and debris, and allows streets to dry sooner. This also allows street sweeping operations to begin earlier, which helps reduce spring dust.
City crews are also monitoring locations that are more prone to drainage issues and are clearing key drainage routes in advance. A gradual melt typically reduces the likelihood of flooding, but when temperatures remain above freezing overnight, drainage problems can appear more quickly and crews may be responding to a higher number of calls.
If residents notice water pooling on their street and believe a catch basin may be blocked, they are encouraged to check whether it is covered by snow or ice. If it is safe to do so, clearing the obstruction can help water drain more effectively. If residents are unable to clear it, they should contact the City’s Customer Care Centre at 306-975-2476, or report water ponding or flooding on the City’s Drainage Issue webform. Crews prioritize calls where flooding threatens property, affects busy intersections or crosswalks, or interferes with vehicle traffic.
The spring thaw also exposes potholes that developed over winter. Residents who see potholes can report them quickly using the City’s Report-a-Pothole online map. Temporary repairs using cold-mix asphalt are underway on priority streets. Permanent repairs with hot-mix asphalt begin once asphalt plants reopen in the spring.
Back lanes may also become uneven and muddy as frost leaves the ground. While this can make lanes difficult to navigate, grading crews cannot smooth them until the surface dries enough to support heavy equipment without causing additional damage. Once conditions improve, crews will begin grading back lanes throughout the city.
Residents can help reduce issues around their homes by making sure drainage paths are clear, directing meltwater away from buildings, and coordinating with neighbours when necessary.

Saskatoon Transit spring service changes – Check your routes!

- Route 4 City Centre: Adjusted run times and increased frequency between the downtown and Nelson Rd/Lowe Rd weeknights and weekend service.
- Route 27 Silverspring: Improved frequency of service on weeknights and all day Saturday and Sunday to every 40 mins. Re-assigned evening service in Evergreen to Route 43.
- Route 43 Evergreen: Introduced weeknights service and weekends with extended service hours and more frequency.
- Route 44 Willowgrove and Route 45 Arbor Creek: Adjusted run times during weeknight and weekend service for more reliability.
Saskatoon Transit is implementing route changes in effect March 29, 2026 to improve overall network performance, better align with future Link rapid transit plans, and respond to ongoing schedule adherence challenges. Service changes are introduced four times each year.

Traffic restrictions will be in place for the northbound lanes of Highway 11 that pass under the Circle Drive overpass due to repairs following an over-height vehicle impact on March 5. Repairs will begin on Tuesday, March 17.
Northbound traffic on Highway 11 will be reduced to one lane for the duration of the repairs. Highway 16 eastbound traffic will remain reduced to a single lane until repairs are completed. All ramps on the overpass will remain open. Drivers are encouraged to keep traffic moving by maintaining the posted speed limit when possible.
This project is expected to take four weeks to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Circle Drive northbound curb lane reopens at 108th Street overpass

Traffic restrictions are lifted on Circle Drive at the 108th Steet Overpass that was damaged on March 11.
All loose concrete was removed from the overpass and is safe for drivers travelling underneath. At the same time, engineers completed a detailed inspection to understand the scope of repairs required. The overpass remains safe for use.

- Visa and MasterCard are accepted forms of payment for online transactions. Phone to make a payment with American Express. Cash and debit cards are accepted in person.
- Leisure program registrations processed through Leisure Online are charged an additional $1.00 (+GST) convenience fee on each program registration.
From 5:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 images will also be removed from the registered programs page to improve the load time of the page when a high volume of users are on the site at the same time.

Registration for the City’s spring and summer leisure programs begins Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. by logging into to your account on Leisure Online at leisureonline.saskatoon.ca or by calling 306-975-2800.
Registration for private and semi-private swim lessons and multi-level lessons for families will open on Monday, March 16 by phone only. Call the Leisure Centre that you are interested in taking lessons at to register.
The City would like to remind residents that opening night for registration can be quite busy. We sincerely appreciate your patience during this time. While additional online and telephone resources are in place to make the process run as smoothly as possible, there will be many people registering at once.
We recommend having a list of alternative options ready in case you do not get into your first choice. If a program is full, join the online wait list, as new classes may be created if there is enough demand. Additionally, consider other nearby Leisure Centres if your preferred location isn't available.

Over-height impact temporarily closes Circle Dr. northbound curb lane at 108th Street overpass
March 11, 2026 - 8:10pm
The northbound curb lane on Circle Drive is closed at the 108th Street overpass after an over-height load hit the structure around 5 p.m Wednesday, March 11.
City of Saskatoon staff and structural engineers went immediately to the scene following the collision. Structural engineers have completed an assessment and confirmed the overpass is safe for use.
Police also attended the scene and questioned the truck driver.
Crews are working to safely remove loose concrete, and the Circle Drive northbound curb lane will remain closed while debris from the impact is cleared.
Drivers are asked to follow all posted signs and detours.
The City will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.

Starting March 20, Saskatoon Transit will improve customer convenience with the launch of new reloadable smart cards. These cards will integrate with the current Masabi mobile ticketing platform, allowing riders to tap their new card or device on the same validator.
This upgrade creates a unified fare system that aims to reduce boarding confusion, eliminate the need for multiple validators, and improve how customers purchase, manage, and use their fare products.
“This modernization improves convenience for riders today while aligning Saskatoon Transit with an industry-leading fare system,” says Mike Moellenbeck, Director of Saskatoon Transit. “By bringing smart cards and mobile ticketing together on one system, we’re making transit simpler, more flexible, and ready to support future payment options.”
New smart cards will be available for Adult, Senior, and High School riders and can be purchased or reloaded at the Transit Customer Service Centre and participating vendors. Cash will continue to be accepted onboard.
Customers with existing smart cards can swap them at the Transit Customer Service Centre and participating vendors to waive the $5 activation fee. To transfer remaining balances or fare products, visit the Transit Customer Service Centre. Current cards will be phased out by August 31, 2026, and must be scanned on the existing fare box until exchanged.

Upcoming construction to prompt temporary water pressure drop in some east-side neighbourhoods; Water remains safe to consume and reliable

- Construction will take place daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with possible weekend work. Noise, dust and vibration are expected in the area of the Acadia Drive and Taylor Street intersection.
- Based on past project modelling and fall 2025 testing, pressure may drop by up to 20 psi (about 40%) in Brevoort Park, College Park, Wildwood, Lakeview, Rosewood, Lakewood Suburban Centre, Lakewood, Briarwood, Greystone Heights, Eastview, and College Park East.
- Will I still have water? Yes. Saskatoon Water customers will continue to have safe, high-quality drinking water.
- Do I need to boil my water? No. Drinking water quality will not be affected. If a boil water advisory is ever required, the City will notify residents.
- What if I lose water? Outages are not expected. If you experience one, call the Customer Care Centre at 306-975-2476.
- How can I help? Residents are asked to limit use of sprinkler systems during this period.
Some east-side residents will experience lower water pressure for up to eight weeks while the City completes a crucial infrastructure upgrade to the Acadia Drive primary water main, beginning March 23, 2026. Water service will stay safe to consume and reliable throughout the work. The water pressure is not expected to drop below 40 pounds per square inch, which is still suitable for everyday use like showering, running appliances and washing dishes.

Fire in University Bridge structure prompts after action review

The Saskatoon Emergency Management Organization will conduct an after-action review to probe additional and potential solutions to further mitigate trespassing and intrusions under the river crossing bridge structures.
The move comes after the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a small fire under the University Bridge Sunday afternoon. Upon extinguishing the fire, the scene was transferred to the Fire Investigator for examination to determine the cause, origin and estimate of damage.
Following the investigation, the Fire Investigator was unable to identify a definitive cause or source of the fire. Therefore, the cause of the fire is classified as “undetermined.” There is no damage estimate available at this time.
The investigation, however, revealed there were signs of unauthorized individuals in the secured area near the fire.
The City has previously invested $256,000 on installing steel mesh barriers topped with razor wire on both sides of the University bridge following a more damaging fire underneath the east side of the bridge in January 2025. At the time, city officials carefully considered options that would deter access but ones that would still allow access beneath the bridge for bridge inspections and necessary utility work.
It’s expected the review will take until the end of spring.

University Bridge traffic restrictions: fire beneath damages sanitary sewer line
March 9, 2026 - 11:30am
A small human-caused fire under the University Bridge Sunday afternoon melted and damaged a portion of a sanitary sewer line beneath an archway near Spadina Crescent. The bridge was inspected and no structural damage was found.
All four lanes of traffic on the University bridge are open; however, there is a restriction in the westbound curb lane at the top of the University Bridge to make room for a pump connected to a sanitary sewer bypass line on the north walkway which is closed.
Westbound drivers are reminded to use both lanes and “Zipper Merge” or re-route their commute if possible. Traffic restrictions are likely to remain in place for the rest of the week as repairs continue.
The south pedestrian walkway remains open.
The City of Saskatoon has been working closely with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment to comply with regulations, and today crews are on the scene cleaning up frozen wastewater that spilled out of the damaged sanitary sewer line.
Traffic restrictions on the University Bridge will impact transit service for Routes 4, 43, 44, 45, 46 and 16. Riders on these routes during bridge restrictions are encouraged to allow extra time to reach their destinations. Traffic delays from rerouting may affect everyone, so check your route for updates and expect delays. The westbound lanes of the University Bridge are closed following a small fire under the archway at the Spadina Crescent end. Two-way traffic is operating in the eastbound lanes and drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible or expect major delays. Saskatoon Transit will be impacted, and customers can find service alerts and real-time bus information on third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit on desktop.
City crews worked through the night to repair damage to a sewer line and work is ongoing. More information will be available as the situation progresses.

Highway 11 northbound and Highway 16 eastbound restrictions remain in place following damage to the overpass structure

City of Saskatoon staff and structural engineers attended the site immediately following a collision with the concrete overpass structure at Circle Drive and Highways 11/16 during the evening of March 5 and continue to assess the extent of the damage.
Planning for repairs to the overpass is underway. Due to the complexity and extent of the required work, a repair timeline is not available at this time.
Highway 16 eastbound will remain reduced to a single lane until repairs can be arranged and completed. Work is ongoing to safely remove loose concrete and address immediate safety concerns. Provided the structure is confirmed to be safe, the City anticipates reopening Highway 11 northbound lanes beneath the structure by the end of the day. Drivers are asked to follow all signs and detours in place.
The City will continue to monitor the situation and keep the public informed of any impacts.

City crews are in the process of re-opening one lane of traffic on both Highway 11 northbound and Circle Drive eastbound approaching the cloverleaf at Circle Drive and Highways 11/16, following a collision with the concrete structure. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area as major traffic delays are expected.
Southbound traffic leaving Saskatoon on Highway 11 and Highway 16 westbound remains free-flowing and will not be impacted.
Semi-trucks on Highway 11 northbound approaching Saskatoon are being detoured around the area at Township 360 by way of Range Road 3050.
The City of Saskatoon will continue to monitor the situation and share more information as it becomes available.
Late afternoon, Thursday, March 5, a semi-truck hauling equipment collided with the Circle Drive/Highway 11 & 16 cloverleaf in the city’s southeast. All northbound and eastbound lanes were closed while emergency services attended to the scene. The extent of the damage or cost of repair is unknown currently. No injuries were reported.

Circle Drive eastbound reopened
March 3, 2026 - 2:34pm
Circle Drive eastbound has reopened following a collision involving a semi-truck and trailer unit, overhead signage and street light poles.
A detour via Venture Crescent has been removed and traffic is now moving in the eastbound lanes of Circle Drive.
Sanding trucks have been sent to the location; however, drivers are advised that sections of roadway may remain icy. Drivers are also reminded to reduce speed, allow for extra stopping distance and adjust driving to current road conditions.
The overhead signage and and street light structures that were knocked down in the collision had to be removed first before the roadway could be opened.
Motor Vehicle Accident – Circle Drive East
March 3, 2026 - 9:32am
At 7:04 a.m., the Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) received a report of a semi-truck on fire.
Upon arrival, fire crews found a semi-truck and trailer unit that had struck a light standard; the tractor unit was on fire. Firefighters deployed hose lines and performed an exterior attack to bring the fire under control.
The fire was fully extinguished at 8:03 a.m. No injuries were reported. The vehicle’s occupant was able to exit safely.
Circle Drive eastbound will remain closed temporarily to allow for vehicle towing and cleanup. Traffic will be redirected onto a detour route via Venture Crescent to move around the incident and return to Circle Drive eastbound.
Drivers are asked to consider using alternative routes.

City releases 2025 Point-in-Time Count Community Report

The 2025 Point‑in‑Time (PiT) Count has identified 1,931 individuals in Saskatoon experiencing homelessness, an increase from 1,499 individuals in 2024. The number recorded in 2025 is now more than 3.5 times higher than the total identified during the 2022 count, underscoring a continued upward trend.
The City of Saskatoon, in partnership with the Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) and more than 250 volunteers, conducted Saskatoon’s annual PiT Count on October 16, 2025. The PiT Count provides a snapshot of the minimum number of individuals experiencing homelessness across Saskatoon.
This year’s count focused on enumerating individuals rather than conducting full surveys and included people and families staying in emergency shelters, transitional housing, unsheltered locations such as encampments, public systems and those experiencing hidden homelessness.
Key PiT Count findings:
“The PiT Count provides both a snapshot of homelessness at a single point in time and valuable insight into year-over-year trends in our community,” says Lesley Anderson, Director of Planning and Development. “Access to this type of data ensures we understand immediate needs and pressures, while also monitoring the impacts of new and changing programs. As homelessness continues to rise, having accurate data to guide where we allocate resources for the greatest possible impact remains a priority.”
“SHIP appreciates the partnership with the City of Saskatoon in coordinating the PiT count. We appreciate the many volunteers who come out to walk the streets and talk to the people to ensure a comprehensive and accurate count. It helps us and the projects we fund identify gaps in service and we learn poverty is the common denominator in homelessness,” says Robert LaFontaine, Executive Director, Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership.

The City of Saskatoon invites residents and media to City Hall for the official kickoff of Cultural Diversity and Race Relations Month.
Attendees will hear impactful remarks from special guests who will speak to the importance of diversity, inclusion, and the community’s ongoing commitment to combating racism.
This open gathering offers an opportunity to capture meaningful stories, connect with community leaders, and highlight initiatives that strengthen equity and understanding across Saskatoon.

Councillor Senos Timon will act as Master of Ceremonies.
Attendees will also be treated to a cultural performance by spoken word poet Ahmad Majid.
Following the program in Council Chambers, the Race Relations Flag will be raised in Civic Square where it will remain raised for one week.
Since 1990, Saskatoon City Council has proclaimed March Cultural Diversity and Race Relations Month — an opportunity to heighten awareness about diversity, equity, and inclusion. 2nd Avenue is closed between 23rd and 24th Streets today, February 26, for unplanned water main repairs. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the area. This project is expected to take one day to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

City adopts new Strategic Plan for 2026-2029

The City of Saskatoon has a new roadmap for the future.
On February 25, 2026, City Council approved the new 2026-2029 Strategic Plan, adopting ten Council priorities and three priorities for High-Performing Organizations to make Saskatoon a city that works for everyone.
“Looking ahead, this Strategic Plan provides a clear path for how Administration will advance City Council’s priorities over the coming four years,” says City Manager Jeff Jorgenson. “It positions us to respond to the opportunities and pressures that come with a growing city.”
The 2026–2029 Strategic Plan will guide the City’s efforts to build a safer, more inclusive Saskatoon with a resilient economy that meets the evolving needs of the city’s residents.
“The next four years give us a meaningful opportunity to shape Saskatoon in ways residents will feel every day, from addressing homelessness to enhancing community safety and keeping life affordable,” says Mayor Cynthia Block. “By focusing on strong public service, modern transportation, responsible financial stewardship and a supportive environment for local business, we can build a Saskatoon that is safe, vibrant, committed to Reconciliation and prepared for what’s ahead.”
The 2026–2029 Strategic Plan was developed through a comprehensive process that includes research and engagement with Council, Administration, residents and many city departments and teams. Based on that consultation process, the City will focus on the following ten Council priorities and three main areas to help the City deliver the programs and services that residents rely on.
