Firefighters’ National Memorial Day
As a tribute to the firefighters who risk their lives to keep Canadians safe, the second Sunday in September of each year is formally designated in memory of firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty. This year, Firefighters’ National Memorial Day will take place on Sunday, September 10.
“Firefighters put their lives on the line in service every day,” says Fire Chief Morgan Hackl. “On Firefighters’ National Memorial Day, SFD joins cities and fire departments across the country to honour and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and to commemorate their courage and unwavering dedication to serving our communities.”
The Saskatoon Fire Department will observe a moment of silence at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 10. Firefighters will be at attention on the ramps of their stations and flags at half-mast in honour of Firefighters’ National Memorial Day.
