Canada Day Long Weekend: Adjusted holiday hours & civic services
It’s the Canada Day long weekend, always a fun kickoff to another great summer in Saskatoon! When a statutory holiday falls on a weekend, it is typically observed by the City on the following Monday. The City of Saskatoon will have several adjusted civic services and hours of operation on Saturday, July 1, Canada Day, and on Monday, July 3 as follows:
CITY HALL
All Administrative Offices are closed on Monday, July 3 and will reopen Tuesday, July 4 at 8 a.m.
ROADWAY DETOURS & CLOSURES

REMAI MODERN
Remai Modern is OPEN on Canada Day, July 1, and CLOSED on Monday, July 3.
SASKATOON PUBLIC LIBRARY
All Saskatoon Public Library locations are CLOSED on Canada Day, Saturday, July 1, and OPEN on Monday, July 3.
SASKATOON TRANSIT
- Fixed route transit will be running regular holiday service on Saturday, July 1 until 9 p.m. (normal fares apply). After the Canada Day 2023 fireworks downtown, free buses will leave from locations on either side of the river.
Visit saskatoontransit.ca for details. - Access Transit will operate with regular business hours from 6:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m.
- Transit Customer Service Centre will be closed but phone lines (306-975-3100) will be open from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
PAY PARKING
- Parking payment is not required on Saturday, Canada Day, July 1, AND Monday, July 3.
- Motorists are reminded that all other parking requirements remain in effect, including parking time limits
MUNICIPAL IMPOUND LOT
- Open for regular business on Saturday, July 1 from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
- Vehicles will not be released to the public on Monday, July 3.
WASTE COLLECTIONS
- Garbage (Black Cart) – Collections as scheduled
- Recycling (Blue Cart) – Collections as scheduled
- Organics (Green Cart) – Collections as scheduled

LANDFILL
- The Landfill is open over the July long weekend from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Cash transactions are accepted, although Credit and Debit are recommended

COMPOST DEPOTS
- The compost depots are open over the July long weekend with normal operating hours.
- West Compost Depot – open 7 days a week, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- East Compost Depot – open Thursday to Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WOODLAWN CEMETERY
- The cemetery office is closed on Monday, July 3
- Cemetery grounds are open to the public 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily as per usual
SASKATOON FORESTRY FARM PARK & ZOO HOURS
Regular Hours of Operation:
- Zoo – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Forestry Farm Park - 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Buckeye Café - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Zoo Gift Shop – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
LEISURE CENTRES

The Leisure Centres have regular hours of operation on Monday, July 3 and the following revised hours on Saturday, July 1.

- Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre

- Lawson Civic Centre – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

GOLF COURSES
Holiday Park, Silverwood and Wildwood golf courses are open regular hours of operation 6 a.m. to dusk.
Nutrien Playland at Kinsmen Park
Open regular hours of operation -10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Outdoor Pools
Visit saskatoon.ca/leisureonline for drop-in program schedules. The outdoor pools will have regular hours of operation on Saturday, July 1 and Monday, July 3.
Canada Day hours of operation are as follows:
- George Ward - 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Lathey – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Mayfair - 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Riversdale - 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
